First Friday: HallowTween!

Street-wide window painting starting at 4pm!

Also check out Chef Jane Parker’s 5pm class on Tea Smoking!

Hallowtween

Bring your kids of all ages to Emma’s Tea Spot, Batch Bakery, Dance Expressions Studio, The Strand Theatre and Latin’s Jewelers on this First Friday for treats and free refreshments and a window painting contest! Create a spooky display and enter to win a local business goody bag.

Children’s Book Signing & Reading

Artist and author Beverly Deluca will be adding her touch to the windows, having a book reading and signing of her book Teddy Goes To School, and spending the evening.

Bev DeLuca, a practicing Christian artist and author, is the proud mother of two grown sons with her dearly departed husband, Tony of 39 happy years. They were blessed with two grandchildren, Sammy who is now 8 and Kaitlyn who is now 5, who regularly inspire her to create stories that tickle the imagination. She was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and she and her husband shared a small antique business in Gettysburg Pennsylvania. In her spare time she enjoys painting landscapes of places they’ve visited. She’s an inspiration to others because her severe dyslexia never kept her from accomplishing whatever she set out to do.

Block Party

Then stop over to the BB&T parking lot for a community block party! From 6-8pm there will be music and pizza from Silver Queen.

Tea, Poetry, & Tarot

Nothing goes better together than poetry and tea! Join your hosts Shirley Brewer and Chris Stewart for a poetry reading, workshop, cream tea, and tarot at Baltimore's new and wonderful tea room, Emma's Tea Spot in Hamilton.

The evening includes

An open mic poetry reading! Cream tea will be served as Chris and Shirley kick things off with their own poems, then participants are invited to read one of their own works. So bring a poem to share!

Shirley will guide you through an "I Am" poetry prompt inspired by Susan Goldsmith Wooldridge's book: poemcrazy, freeing your life with words. Explore your poetic essence and your color personality. Come prepared to PLORK - Play + Work!!! Emphasis on play!

Chris will guide you through a tarot poem exercise based on a tarot or oracle card you choose from available decks. The imagery and mystery within tarot and poetry make them the perfect match! Together, everyone’s poems will make a tarot poem deck we will shuffle and from which everyone will choose a poem to learn their fortune. (Want to keep your original one? Make two—one to keep and one to share.)

During breaks and the last half hour of the evening, tarot reader Keenon Brice will give each attendee a brief reading on the tarot/oracle card they chose as inspiration.

SPACE IS LIMITED.

COST: $25.
